Free webinar: Mental Health in the Workplace

The latest HSE survey* on work-related stress in UK employees (published in December 2021) highlights that while the rate of self-reported work-related stress, depression or anxiety has been steadily increasing, unsurprisingly the latest findings were considerably higher than the 2018/19 pre-coronavirus levels. Research earlier in the year in the USA by Indeed.com* reported 67% of their 1500 survey respondents reported feeling “burned out”, with even more feeling this had got worse during the pandemic.

Media reports suggest discussions about mental health are tending to be more open, but there is still a fear of discrimination that prevents these conversations in the workplace. This webinar provides practical ideas and suggestions on how best to support staff and managers for their mental wellbeing. Join Nicola Waters of Apex HR and Sue Windley of the Be Ready Employer Hub as they discuss the implications of the pandemic on the mental health of managers and staff in local businesses, and what simple but effective solutions can be put in place.

Nicola Waters – Nicola is Managing Director of Apex HR, a Plymouth based HR consultancy that takes a holistic view of business and people management. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Managers with a practical, hands-on approach to helping business leaders bring clarity to the challenges they face on a daily basis. She also applies this to her personal life, with recent achievements including taking part in the Six Peaks Challenge and a family team run of the London Marathon.

Sue Windley – is the Project Co-Ordinator and co-developer of Devon County Council’s Be Ready Employer Hub, which provides disability awareness training and support to employers. She brings a commercial awareness to understanding the benefits of employing people with disabilities with 15+ years of running a business consultancy. She has also recently completed an award in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy in the Workplace.
